At 3" deep and 9" diameter these large bowls with built in grater will hold three pretty good size rib-eye steaks in a freshly made marinade (never marinate in metal).  They can also accommodate pasta to toss enough for three or four people, or freshly made salad dressing for two (toss in bowl).
 
To make a dressing or a marinade, we simply start by grating the garlic or ginger (or both) on the bottom of the big rasp bowl.  Then build the whole recipe in the same bowl!!  No transferring = less mess and more flavor!!  
 
My favorite way to use the big bowl grater is by grating a couple garlic cloves on the bottom, add in same cooked and drained angel hair pasta, slather in olive oil, and then bake in the oven (these bowls are also great for our Alfredo Sauce recipe too!).  Serve next to matching Herb Mill and also a couple grater plates around the table with some fresh Parmigiano Reggiano.  Fun, beautiful, and delicious!!
